Onggi Making and more...

I went home to South Korea as my regular visit to see my family and friends this autumn. But I had a special trip to southern part of Korea, Hwasun (30 minutes from Kwangju) to learn an old traditional of Onggi making. Onggi jars are vessels that hold food items such as kimchi, soy sauce, soybean paste, chilli paste or such as gains as they are breathing pots.

I so gratefully stayed at Hyangjong Oh’s studio who taught me and housed me and my partner for 3 weeks whilst we were there! What a generous man he is, Master Oh!
